Win streak hits 10 as Isanti tops Mullets in Minneapolis

by Scott Ludwig

Tyler Schmitt continued his torrid scoring streak with a hat trick helping the Isanti Outlaws defeat the host Minnesota Mullets tonight 5-1. It was the tenth victory in-a-row by the Outlaws (11-3-0-0) who are just two points back of division leading Minnesota Squatch (12-2-0-0).

A second year forward from Big Lake, Schmitt is currently third among all USPHL Premier goal scorers with 20. His 35 points are fifth best in scoring.

Isanti never trailed on Saturday in the game played at Augsburg Ice Arena. Schmitt provided the early offense with a goal at the 4:42 mark and again at 10:11. Peyton Andrews also scored in the first to help the Outlaws to a 3-0 intermission lead.

Trevor Ripley scored the lone goal in the second on a powerplay with assists from Schmitt and Easton Parnell. It was the third helper of the night for Parnell who is second in team scoring with 28 points in 14 games.

Schmitt completed his hat trick just :38 into the final period to make the score 5-0 before the Isanti offense let up.

Goaltender Adler Hoagland shut down the Mullets for the first 50 minutes of the game before a powerplay goal by Jimmy Lindblom ended his bid for a shutout. Hoagland finished the game with 28 saves. He now boasts a 3.61 GAA in four games played.

The Outlaws return home next weekend to play host to the Dells Ducks (1-11-2-1) on Friday and Saturday.
